You can call me Matt, but the odds are your kids are going to know me by my nickname, "Jamba." The origins of "Jamba" stem back to my first years in children's ministry. I worked at a Christian summer camp for kids as a tribal chief for Forest Home's Indian Village in Forest Falls, California. Every tribal chief had to have an Indian name; "Jamba" just happened to be mine. I know it's not very "Native American," but it was fun nonetheless.
When camp was over, I started an internship for a church that met me at camp. Before I could introduce myself as Matt, they all yelled,"Hey, it's Jamba!" Since then, the name has followed me wherever I've served.
